Grace Drysdale McLEAN - 15 September 1913

 

Grace Drysdale McLEAN was born in St. Giles, Edinburgh, Scotland on 15 September 1913. She was the ninth child of John Baillie McLEAN February 4, 1869 and Mary DARLING April 14, 1873. She had four brothers (Thomas Baillie McLEAN June 17, 1895, William Duncan McLEAN June 15, 1904, George Baillie McLEAN November 13, 1906, James Forrest McLEAN February 4, 1911) and six sisters (Margaret Fraser McLEAN July 13, 1891, Jane Rawley McLEAN March 9, 1897, Joan Mackie McLEAN April 9, 1899, Mary Darling McLEAN August 12, 1901, Christine Berry Darling McLEAN May 29, 1917, Helen Baillie McLEAN May 29, 1917).

 

When she was 12 years old, her father John Baillie McLEAN died (April 22, 1926). When she was 48 years old, her mother Mary DARLING died (December 16, 1961).

 

On 31 March 1939, she married John Gilchrist SHIELLS July 1, 1909. On November 24, 1944, she married Robert Frederick SMITH 1906 in St. Giles, Edinburgh, Scotland. She was 25 years old when she married John Gilchrist SHIELLS, who was 29 years old at that time. She was 31 years old when she married Robert Frederick SMITH, who was 38 years old at that time. She had three children with Robert Frederick SMITH: Norma SMITH, Joan SMITH 1948, Roberta SMITH 1958. She had one son with John Gilchrist SHIELLS: Alan SHIELLS.

 

On February 23, 1986, she died in Toronto, Toronto, Ontario, Canada when she was 72 years old. Her ex-husband John Gilchrist SHIELLS died on 1978, 8 years before her. Her husband Robert Frederick SMITH died on 1998, 12 years after her.

John Baillie McLEAN was born in Leith, Midlothian, Scotland on February 4, 1869. He was the first child of John McLEAN July 9, 1843 and Helen BAILLIE 1845. His only brother was William Baillie McLEAN August 12, 1874.

 

On 26 June 1891, he married Mary DARLING April 14, 1873 in Pleasance Free Church, Edinburgh, Scotland. He was 22 years old when he married Mary DARLING, who was 18 years old at that time. On October 12, 1865, he married Helen BAILLIE 1845. He was 22 years old when he married Helen BAILLIE, who was 20 years old at that time. He had two children with Helen BAILLIE: John Baillie McLEAN February 4, 1869, William Baillie McLEAN August 12, 1874.

 

His wife Helen BAILLIE died on November 29, 1929.
